(9-5-08)  For the week, the Dow lost 2.8 percent, the S&P 500 fell 3.2 percent and the Nasdaq  slid 4.7 percent.

For the month of August, the Dow gained 1.5 percent, the S&P 500 added 1.2 percent and the Nasdaq rose 1.8 percent.
